We here at Back Stage Pass News all feel that there can never be enough Christmas songs. Ludlow Creek have released a Christmas song that is way over due and has a very interesting history.

Dayton-based award-winning band Ludlow Creek has gone global with many of their recent releases, including their latest album, “Which Way is Forward.” Known for transcending boundaries and creating a unique musical experience with every song, Ludlow Creek has announced they will be releasing their first original Christmas single, “This Baby Boy.” Having been shelved for many years, the song will now see the light of day in time for Christmas 2022.
Band member Jeffrey Friend tells how the single “This Baby Boy” came together, while almost tearing the band apart: “I wrote and recorded ‘This Baby Boy’ just before Christmas 2014, with Dave and Michelle singing harmonies. Michelle fell in love with it. Every Christmas after, Michelle would play it and talk about how the world needed to hear it, too. As we worked through 2022, we planned some rehearsals for the song. After the first rehearsal, I fired off an email that should have been a real-life conversation, and it blew everything up. Things got worse. We felt like Ludlow Creek was doomed.”
He further added, “After a week of ugly emails, we finally all sat in one room filled with loving tears, and forgiveness. This is where life, love, and hope happen; together, in an ordinary place. It wasn’t long before Michelle brought us back around to ‘This Baby Boy’. We rehearsed, recorded, mixed, and mastered the song in a few short weeks.”

Sun King Rising Releases Second Album Signs & Wonders on PeacockSunrise Records
Sun King Rising’s second album, Signs & Wonders, is to be released on October 1st on CD, vinyl, and top download and streaming sites. Sun King Rising is the professional moniker of singer/songwriter/piano player John Blangero who hails from Port Isabel, Texas.
He calls his music “the new wave of southern rock and soul music.” Peacock Sunrise Records is the Americana/Rock label spinoff of Nick Katona’s successful Progressive Rock label, Melodic Revolution. As with Sun King Rising’s highly acclaimed debut album, Delta Tales, Pittsburgh’s Ace Acker served as producer. Save for Queen’s Brian May, Blangero is perhaps incomparable in all the world. Like May—Queen’s guitarist—Blangero is not only a brilliant, entirely original musical artist but also a world-renowned scientist (May is an astrophysicist) specializing in genetics research. Blangero’s music draws from his own southern family roots, the literary genius of William Faulkner, the bluesy compositional brilliance of George Gershwin, the blue-eyed soul of Elton John, and the funky rhythms and horns of 60s-70s Muscle Shoals. Soaring electric guitars add spice to this gumbo. It is a unique fusion of innate design with heartfelt musical expression— “the Genetics of Soul.”
“With this album, Sun King Rising has made a quantum leap,” says Katona. “Musically and lyrically, Signs & Wonders rocks hard while engaging the imagination. It is thematically coherent, complex, and sophisticated.” Blangero attributes this to the vastly improved circumstances under which Acker was able to produce it. “We started recording the first album in January 2020. Two months later, the COVID-19 pandemic locked the whole world down,” he says. Coping with resulting restrictions on travel and meetings forced Blangero and Acker to complete the production remotely, with thirty-two different players and singers recording in multiple studios across the country. Says Blangero, “It was a logistical challenge, to say the least.” With Signs & Wonders, the production team had no such hurdles. Recording again at Pittsburgh’s Maplewood Studio with engineer David Granati at the helm, Acker put together a full 5-piece band, a horn section, and a background chorus with the city’s most acclaimed talents. “Most of the cuts on the album we recorded live at Maplewood, with the same band,” Acker explained, “resulting in a far more consistent sound. The logistics were a breeze.” Signs & Wonder is a collection of Blangero’s southern noir stories set to music, with a cast of colorful characters, intrigue, tales of sin and redemption, murder without justice, and love without limits. Had William Faulkner and Tennessee Williams been lyricists, they might have written deeply nuanced musical stories like Sun King Rising’s. The album’s first single, “No. 6 Magnolia Avenue,” is classic 60s/70s horn band pop in the vein of Chicago, Spiral Staircase, and Blood, Sweat and Tears. Wasn't sure what to expect with the name Sweet Lily Love, but it certainly is cute and pulls you in. So all preconceptions aside, here is what I found and think about Sweet Lily Love and her newest song "On Wauconda Raver."
This is going to be a "real time" review. The first thing I can say as it starts out is that while the songs are cute and could very well fill the dance floor with bouncing bodies, it lacks something I crave. What might that be? Well, the tune I listened to was dynamically coking and certainly dance-able. It is clear and easy to hear. The sounds and beats are in your face. Musically it is well mixed and recorded and can really move the speakers and was thought out very well sonic-ally speaking with every space in the audio spectrum filled to completeness for the most part. All in all it is a catchy EDM song. It has a lot of school spirit and should be a big hit with the High School crowd. ABOUT RICKEY MEDLOCKE

Rickey Medlocke was born on February 17, 1950 in Jacksonville, Florida and raised by his grandparents. Rickey was always a natural born musician as he inherited some of his talent from his grandfather Shorty Medlocke. His grandfather, Shorty Medlocke, was a well-known Delta blues musician and taught his grandson to play a miniature banjo. Medlocke started performing onstage at age three, and his musical abilities increased over the years. He began teaching himself to play guitar at age five and he was playing drums in Shorty's band at age eight. Over the next several years Medlocke mastered the banjo, guitar, drums, mandolin, dobro and keyboards. He had a melodic singing voice and had taught himself to sing and play guitar at the same time. After graduating high school, Medlocke formed his first band, Blackfoot, where he was lead vocalist and lead guitarist. He was raised around music and it certainly is in his blood. Medlocke is of Native American Heritage and is very proud of that Heritage.
Rickey was in his late teens when he formed the band BLACKFOOT. As lead vocalist and front man, the band was very successful and Rickey kept the band going releasing over 10 hard rocking albums. During a brief time in his early career, Rickey left the Blackfoot band and toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd as a drummer from 1971 through the first half of 1973. He then reformed BLACKFOOT where he remained until the mid 1990's. While with Skynyrd in the early 1970’s he wrote and recorded some with the band and played drums and sang lead on a few songs like: "One More Time", "Preacher's Daughter", "Lend a Helpin' Hand", "Wino", "White Dove", "Comin' Home", "The Seasons", "Ain't Too Proud to Pray" and "You Run Around."
On occasion, Medlocke played alongside the band's original drummer Bob Burns but came to desire the energy of a guitarist at the front of the stage. This resulted in his 1971 decision to reform Blackfoot. The band began touring and producing hit songs that included "Train Train", which was written by his grandfather, and "Highway Song", written by Rickey Medlocke and Blackfoot drummer Jakson Spires, amongst songs written by others. He disbanded the group in the early 1990s.
For a while in the 1990s, Medlocke thought about pursuing other careers until he received a phone call in 1996 from Gary Rossington inviting him to rejoin Lynyrd Skynyrd as a lead guitarist and primary songwriter. Rossington asked Medlocke if he remembered how to play "Free Bird", "Tuesday's Gone", and "Workin' For MCA", among others. Medlocke rejoined Skynyrd and has been a member since. In 1996 Rickey rejoined Lynyrd Skynyrd where he has remained a full time guitarist for the band where he continues to tour and record.
In 2008, Medlocke was inducted into the Native American Music Hall of Fame.
Occasionally, Medlocke will step away from Skynyrd briefly to join musicians like Blackberry Smoke and Shooter Jennings onstage. In 2005, he joined American Idol finalist Bo Bice on stage for a rendition of "Sweet Home Alabama" when the top three finalists from season four returned home. In October of 2015 Medlocke received the Lifetime Achievement Award and in November 2015, performed with Blackfoot at three (3) special event shows in New York, Massachusetts and Virginia.

Chris Poulson finds out he just can't let go
It is highly recommended that you listen to this song before watching the music video for the song. The Music Video is very cool and artsy, however the song is fabulous all by itself. The Official Music Release date of this song is August 2nd, 2022 but we have a sneak peek here tonight!
SONG REVIEW
It’s obvious that the object love of this song has caused the singer a lot of deep pain. It shows in both the lyrics and the video. Structurally the song is simplistic which allows the emotion to shine through. Over production would have killed it. The nice analog feel of the visual is also suited to more of a movie feel than the crisp 4k sharpness prevalent today. For me, musically and visually the song hits the mark. Chris Poulson is an American Singer-Songwriter from Burbank, California. He is a seasoned musician, who has been in the music industry since the mid 1990's. Chris Poulson's career started early. He was in his high school marching band drumline and progressed to being signed with Fearless Records rock band, Rock Kills Kid as drummer in 2001. He found himself touring and sharing the stage with headlining and national acts. In the mid 2000's, Chris left drumming to focus on singing and songwriting.
