Cassadee Pope has just released the new music video for her latest single, "Say It First," off of her upcoming ninth album,THRIVE, exclusively with Sounds Like Nashville. The video, directed and edited by Ed Pryor, is a colorful depiction of the inner storm that matches the song's eruptive angst along with the vulnerability of its lyrics.
“Working with Ed Pryor again was such a treat," says Pope. "We both knew we wanted this video to include weather elements and fast flashes to coincide with the inner turmoil the song talks about. I wanted to wear a beautiful dress to further illustrate the fact that vulnerability is strength.” WATCH: "Say It First" Music Video "Developing concepts with Cassadee and her team is always a breath of fresh air!," says video director, Ed Pryor. "'Say It First' is such a powerful song that we all were inspired to pair imagery that was visually exciting yet also emotionally impactful." "Say It First" was written by Pope, Ross Copperman and Heather Morgan, and produced by Nickolas Wheeler, Karen Fairchild and Pope. The song describes the moment before a relationship ends where both parties are holding back the words that will finally close the chapter and uncomfortably waiting to see who will end the stalemate and 'say it first.' Download JPEG "Say It First" follows Cassadee's first release from THRIVE earlier this year, "What The Stars See" featuring Karen Fairchild and Lindsay Ell. Pope recently performed the song on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" where she also officially announced THRIVE, out this Fall. "We want 'Headphones' to represent a song's ability to help during the darkest times. Right now, people should be paying close attention to their mental health so we're offering up a melody and a message that might heal someone the way music has been healing us." Douglas Silverstein, today announced signing a deal to produce a major documentary and a biopic on country music legend, singer/songwriter Lefty Frizzell. “We are so excited and honored to be working as a family to make these films happen,” says Marlon Frizzell, son of Lefty Frizzell. “Lefty was one of the most influential singers you’ve never really heard of unless you were a hardcore country music fan. However, his music reached so many and influenced so many outside of the country genre, including Elvis and Roy Orbison.” Lefty’s recording career in the national spotlight lasted only twenty-five years, producing a total of 39 Top 100 songs and six #1 hits on the Billboard charts, yet few artists can match the long shadow of influence cast by Lefty Frizzell. His major hits included “I Love You A Thousand Ways,” “Always Late,” “Long Black Veil,” “That’s The Way Love Goes” “If You’ve Got The Money” I’ve Got The Time,” “Mom & Dad’s Waltz,” and “Saginaw Michigan.” “Lefty is often referred to as the original Elvis, from the way he moved on stage, his legendary stage clothes, and how his good looks and voice made women swoon but beyond his talent is a fascinating story worthy of both a documentary and biopic," said M. Douglas Silverstein. "I’m thrilled to be working directly with the Frizzells’ to show the world the full legacy of Lefty Frizzell from the man, the many myths, and the wonderful music he created!” Passing at the young age of 47, on July 19, 1975, Lefty had created a legacy of stylistic influence on a new generation of music industry greats to come. His traditional country roots and unique vocal styling was imprinted on a legion of hitmakers who openly credit Lefty Frizzell as their inspiration – a list that includes Merle Haggard, George Jones, Roy Orbison, Randy Travis, Keith Whitley, John Fogerty, and Willie Nelson who recorded a whole album of Lefty songs out of respect to his hero. Lefty became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in July of 1951. He has been posthumously honored with induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Grammy Hall of Fame, the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, and the Nashville Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. In the forward of the book, 'I Love You A Thousand Ways,' written by younger brother, David Frizzell, Merle Haggard wrote: “The impact Lefty had on country music is not even measurable. No one could handle a song like Lefty. He would hold on to each note and on each word until he finally decided to drop it and pick up the next one. Most of us learned to sing listening to him.” Also as Loretta Lynn states, “He will always be one of the greatest country singers who ever lived.” “It has been my goal for a long time to get brother Lefty’s story documented on the big screen,” says David Frizzell. “Now, with the help of M. and all the great people behind the camera, we are finally going to get to make this a reality.” The new Frizzell film production will be captured through the creative lens of M. Douglas Silverstein, the production/direction energy behind many multi-award-winning projects including globally broadcast live concerts, documentaries, commercials, and special productions for TV, and film. He has produced live concerts for clients as diverse as Green Day, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the United Nations. He has done high-profile national branding productions, including Madonna, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, and Timbaland. His documentary credits include Paul McCartney, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Willie Nelson, Foo Fighters, Duran Duran, and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Through his Extrovert Entertainment production house, Fortune 500 production projects have included Google, Best Buy, Verizon, LG, AT&T, Microsoft, Mazda, and Dodge. ALERT: Producers are seeking archival video footage, photos, and news stories involving Lefty Frizzell. Anyone with such materials can email [email protected]. Singer-songwriter, Jessie G, just released the music video for her latest single “Timeless” with premieres by Country Rebel and The Country Network. The song was written to honor her wedding day and the video adds another emotional layer to the song with real footage from her destination wedding in Destin, Fla.
Although this song is slightly more sentimental than her previous work, Jessie G sticks to her punk rock n’ roll roots with shots of her singing into a microphone in her wedding dress in front of a full band. She is not afraid to be herself and this video captures a more personal aspect of her character in an authentically Jessie G way. “This song is such a great introduction to the new chapter in my music and my life. I've always been very rock n' roll and country. I feel like I've authentically captured that with all my new music coming out,” says Jessie. The "Timeless" video will pull at your heartstrings, spark old memories and make viewers hopeful for the future. After garnering millions of views on her previous single, “Army Ranger” and a feature in Rolling Stone, Jessie G is becoming a powerful force in country music. It seems like the perfect time to release her “Timeless” video. In addition to The Country Network, you can catch the video on CMT.com, Heartland's 3rd Shift and Country Music Today, Boots & Guitars, CMCTVUSA.com and many more. Watch the awesome music video here! About Jessie G “Sometimes true musical talent just cannot be denied, even when it’s found in the sleepy fishing town of Brookings, Oregon,” says Grammy award-winning artist Gretchen Wilson about Jessie G, the first outside artist signed to Wilson’s Redneck Records. Jessie’s heritage spans across four generations of commercial fishermen, and she spent much of her childhood aboard the hand-built family boat; searching for Dungeness crab and albacore tuna, and then selling their catch at the market and in their family restaurant. Hard work runs in her blood. It’s doubtful, however, that Jessie knew that entering a Battle of the Bands contest, through which she won an opening slot on Gretchen’s Portland tour date, would literally change her entire trajectory. Upon hearing her sing, Gretchen invited her onto her tour bus and urged Jessie to begin the journey that every young country singer-songwriter must embark upon — she moved to Nashville. Jessie immersed herself fully into writing, teaming with some of Nashville’s best, and spent countless hours in the studio working on her sound. Discovering the true art of songwriting under the watchful eye of Gretchen and her multi-talented friends and collaborators, Jessie realized the true depth of what she wanted to say. With Jessie G starting her own label, Redneck Bayou Records as a division of Gretchen Wilson’s Redneck Records, The release of Jessie’s newest single comes on the heels of her highly successful debut EP and singles, “Whatever This Is” and “Army Ranger,” which all made loud statements on radio worldwide and with the heartfelt music videos, which debuted on national networks like CMT, GAC, The Country Network and more, and has amassed millions of video views online. “The fishing industry is closely related to the music industry,” Jessie says. “Working on a fishing boat toughens you up. And the harder you work, the more likely you’ll create a big payoff.” Today, singer/songwriter Megan Wyler has released her new album Upside Now. Wyler’s first new album in eight years, Upside Now sees the singer collaborating with the producer of her debut album Through The Noise Adem Ilhan (Fridge, Silver Columns), as well as Grammy Award-winning mixer Mark Rankin (Adele, Florence + The Machine, Harry Styles) and multi-award-winning composer/producer Peter Raeburn (Under the Skin, Sexy Beast) as executive producer (and co-producer on three tracks). Listen to Upside Now here. “This collection of songs is a cycle of seeking and finding - often with an unexpected outcome, but catharsis nonetheless,” says Wyler. “I am expanding/digging, coming to terms with untimely death, experiencing deepest love, emerging from heartbreak, lighting the fire of resistance, celebrating female solidarity, passion, fury, the cosmos. Lighthearted stuff like that." Written and recorded between London and Los Angeles, Upside Now features co-writes with the likes of seven-time Grammy Award-nominee Anoushka Shankar and the late guitarist Johnny McNabb, amongst others. Frequent collaborators lending their talents and exceptional musicianship to the songs include Emma Smith on strings (Jarvis Cocker, Hot Chip, Depeche Mode), Alex Thomas on drums (Air, Anna Calvi, John Cale), and Matt Sweeney on guitars (Johnny Cash, Bonnie Prince Billy, Catpower). Along with producer Adem Ilhan, executive producer Peter Raeburn, and mixer Mark Rankin, they’ve created a dramatic new acoustic soundscape to envelop Megan’s latest works. Though she’s now based in Los Angeles, Wyler released her 2013 debut Through The Noise while living in London. The album was praised by the likes of Nowness, Songwriting Magazine, Indie Shuffle who described her sound as “incredibly moving and luscious,” and Clash Magazine who called her music “subtle, delicate and very beautiful.” Closely following that album’s release, Wyler had a young son with a number of demanding medical needs. “It was my honour and privilege to make him my priority,” says Wyler. “Being a mother is and always will be my first job ahead of anything else.” During this time, Wyler found herself in a bit of a creative “freeze-over” as she calls it. “It was like I could see songs, ready to be born, but I couldn’t access them somehow.” As things calmed down at home, however, her creative freeze began to thaw. Now Wyler is returning in full force. Upside Now’s first single “The Calling” was used as the opening title music of the Amazon Original Series Tell Me Your Secrets and her performance of the album’s title track, “Upside Now,” was recently featured by American Songwriter. Both singles have been featured on a number of top Apple Music playlists including New Music Daily, Acoustic Chill, New In Alternative, Breaking Singer-Songwriter and Wax Eclectic. Follow Megan Wyler: Spotify - Apple Music - Website Instagram - Facebook - Youtube Promising talent Nicky James seeks to find 'Common Ground' with his latest single produced by Grammy-award nominated producer, Eric Torres (Jamey Johnson). The self-penned track features equal parts ear-catching melodies with powerhouse vocals to back it up. 'Common Ground' is available digitally wherever you consume music. James told Nashville Noise: "2020 will go down as one of the most frustrating times we as a civilization have ever gone through. That one year managed to separate people more than I’ve ever seen and created a big divide within groups of family and friends. This song is to bring people back to a ‘Common Ground’ where we love each other not based off what side you’re on, but off the realization that we’re all in this thing called life together just trying to make a livin’ when the goin’ gets tough.” In celebration of the release, James made his Whiskey Jam debut last night. The track is a follow up to the powerful 'Addict's Knot'. Both tracks are part of a forthcoming project expected later this year. ABOUT NICKY JAMES: Don’t let his humble roots fool you, Nicky James is ready to take the Country music world by storm with his prolific storytelling and undeniable star potential. Equal parts ear-catching melodies with powerhouse vocals to back it up, James is preparing for the release of his upcoming project. With Grammy-award nominated producer Eric Torres (Jamey Johnson) at the helm, his latest project features his signature vocals and is strong enough to seamlessly transition to radio. Unapologetically authentic, the future proves promising for the breakout talent. Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska to a musical family, breaking out the guitar was just a normal part of the daily family life. His parents raised him on the American classics, like James Taylor, John Denver, and The Eagles, and those legends have had a major impact on his songwriting style. The passion for Country music was instilled in him at a young age and he made the full-time pursuit while only in his teens. Playing anywhere and everywhere that would allow him, he learned and fine-tuned his chops at that young age. As if it was inevitable, He eventually made his way to Nashville where the rising talent has big plans. ![]() Unassuming circumstances are often the birthplace of priceless memories, and sometimes a simple act of kindness can be life-changing. The music video for country music hitmaker Ray Fulcher's "Girl in It" takes a deeper look into some everyday occurrences and premiered on PEOPLE.com yesterday (7/8.) “Fulcher is now increasingly looking like country music's next solo hitmaker, courtesy of his genuine delivery on songs such as his current single ‘Girl In It.’” - PEOPLE Directed by Dylan Rucker, the music video for "Girl in It" adds to the lyrical story, whirling through the phases of love and loss, so much so, it almost acts as another verse. "Being on set for the 'Girl in It' video, it was awesome seeing the vision come to life," said Fulcher. "We had the script for the video, and I imagined it in my head, but getting there and seeing what the team came up with was beyond my wildest dreams. The song is a story in itself, but the video takes it to the next level; it's like a whole new story, almost a fourth verse for the song." In a serendipitous twist of fate, another story was hidden on set that day, one even Ray was surprised to discover. The gentleman acting alongside Fulcher in the video is also a songwriter, not only that, a Hall of Famer. When Fulcher said to Jerry Foster, "I've got some learning to do from you, sir." Foster kindly shook his hand and replied, "Ah, man. You're fine like you are." PEOPLE.com premiered Ray Fulcher's "Girl in It" music video and gave readers a behind-the-scenes look straight from the set, here. On June 25th, Fulcher stepped into the circle of the Grand Ole Opry stage for his debut performance and released new music on Black River the same day. All three songs are digitally available here, and "Girl in It" is now playing on top playlists, including Apple's Country in Spatial Audio, and New In Country, Amazon's Breakthrough Country, Pandora's New Country and New Country Now, and Spotify's Next From Nashville, and RADAR Country. "Bucket List Beers" - Written by Ray Fulcher, Luke Combs, Tim Nichols, and Chris Yarber Ray Fulcher delivers songs that distill a slower way of life that's equal parts pride, joy and good clean fun. The euphoria almost rises from the tracks as the words, melodies and darning needle guitars fly by. As a writer, he understands the sweet spot of life. It's the same joy that marks the songs he's co-written with an old friend named Luke Combs. Eight of those songs ended up on the 2020 CMA Album of the Year What You See Is What You Get. Eight more ended up on This One's for You. Four of those songs – "When It Rains It Pours," "Even Though I'm Leaving," "Lovin' on You" and "Does to Me," featuring their mutual idol and influence Eric Church – went to #1. This fall, Fulcher joins his friend and writing partner Luke Combs on his What You See Is What You Get tour and supports Ashley McBryde on select dates. Amanda Cooksey Releases Lively Remix With “Chicago (Ronen Remix)” And Official “Chicago” Music Video7/5/2021
As a follow up to her latest release “Chicago," rising singer/songwriter Amanda Cooksey brings us an exciting new take on the track with “Chicago (Ronen Remix).” Originally written by Cooksey and Jason Saenz, this dance remix, produced by Chicago-native Ronen, speeds up the tempo with quick jabs and claps, taking it from heartbreak ballad to demanding anthem. Listen to the reimagined track here.
Accompanying the remix, she has released the official music video for “Chicago” on all platforms and launching her official VEVO channel. KOPE Films (Kolby Copeland) brought “The Windy City” to life on screen, with ethereal flashes of Chicago projected across Amanda as her dreamy vocals hypnotically hold your attention. Watch the official music video here. “I'm really excited to have finally released the music video for "Chicago”! I wanted the video to portray all of the emotions of the song, and I think the videographer, Kolby Copeland, definitely helped me capture that. I also can't wait for everyone to hear the Ronen remix! It gives the song a totally different feel that I think is perfect for the summer time,” says Cooksey. Her willingness to take risks and carve out new areas of artistry places Amanda into a special category, among many of her genre bending inspirations like Taylor Swift, Julia Michaels and Lennon Stella. She has seen success with recent releases, including “What’s His Name” and “In Denial,” both garnishing support from Spotify. The official music video for “In Denial,” another KOPE Films production, was supported by CMT.com, as well. About Amanda Cooksey Born and raised in Orlando, Florida, Amanda Cooksey took piano lessons and loved to sing. This led her to Ron Feldman, a vocal and piano instructor, whose guidance eventually landed Amanda on NSAI’s Ones To Watch list in 2013. During this time, Amanda participated in pagents, leading her to a passion for philanthropy. She has been involved with Make A Wish Foundation, Ovarian Cancer Alliance and Tunes for Tots to fundraise for various cancer foundations. With Ron’s encouragement, Amanda decided she wanted to attend Belmont University, where she earned two degrees in Business Administration and Songwriting. Shortly into her freshman year, her mentor, Ron, was diagnosed with brain cancer and passed away. To this day, Amanda credits him for her successes. Upon moving to Nashville, Amanda connected with hit writers Marty Dodson and Clay Mills, who soon became her mentors, as well as Rick Barker, who helped Amanda with her social media following and navigating the music industry. Through GRAMMY U, Amanda worked with Marc Driskill at Sea Gayle Music and had her song co-written with Dallas Remington, “Found Her Freedom,” published in Music Row Magazine. She attended Durango Songwriters Expo, where her song “Girl in the Mirror,” won second place in their Write A Hitmaker contest. After graduating, Amanda worked part-time in A&R and PR at Demolition Music where she continues to manage their catalog. Throughout the pandemic, she has been consistently connecting with and growing her fan base through playing music on Facebook and Instagram Live, where her rendition of Louis Tomilson’s “Just Like You” received notice. Her previous singles have been supported by Radio Disney Country and Spotify editorial playlists such as Wild Country, Pop-Co and Young Nashville. She recently received her Master’s in Public relations from the University of Florida and continues to be creative every day, humbled by every opportunity that comes her way through doing what she loves. ![]()
