Hospital?   In all seriousness, Richard  once said that working on a soap was the hardest work in  his life.  

At 71 years old, he may not want to even attempt to work that hard again. It has literally been a lifetime since he has been on the show. I caught him on a rerun of THE LOVE BOAT which is where this image was screen shot.  He played opposite Linda Blair.   

Perhaps if we encouraged him, he would come back.  He raised a daughter so he should have some practical experience about dealing with daughters.   Comment below if you would like to see him come back for a bit so we can finally know what transpired between Elizabeth and her parents all those years ago.    Check out Richards website at: ​http://rdanderson.com/
