nline chatter is accusing the Mike and Nina story line of tanking ratings? Is this true? Could a story line be such a turn off for viewers that they would tune out? Well let's look at the facts?
“General Hospital” is trending downward with just 2.102 million viewers, down -75,000 viewers compared to last week. The soap was also down substantially in Women 18-49 rating compared to its performance one week earlier (0.30 vs 0.35). In Women 25-54 rating, the soap was off by -0.03 (0.54 vs 0.57). Compared to its performance one year earlier, “GH” is up just 26,000 viewers while down a severe -0.11 in Women 25-54 rating (0.54 vs 0.65) and -0.12 in Women 18-49 rating (0.30 vs 0.42). In fact, one year earlier the soap was the highest-rated daytime drama series in both demographics but has now fallen to third place among the four broadcast soaps. So with the online chatter, one could ascertain that this story line which is making a lot of people uncomfortable to say the least, could be having a negative effect on viewership. Hey GH POWERS THAT BE.....it's time to wrap up the Mike Nina story line. It seems to be a turn off for the majority of viewers.

I've been watching GH for 50 years. Never in my life has there been a more boring story line. Everything about it is absurd; Sonny is supposed to be the biggest mob kingpin in the east; no one recognizes him yet the lone cop in Nixon Falls recognizes Peter??? It's gone on way too long, since Christmas. For me personally, the biggest problem is Nina. All I will say is that I've never thought this particular actress was right for the part since day one. Please, GH, wrap this up!

I too have been watching for about as long, I agree 100%. I've never like Michelle Stafford's replacement as Nina. The storyline is unbelievable for all the reasons you listed but mostly because there is ZERO chemistry between the actors, it's painful to watch, and it's gone on FAR too long. Looking forward to it being over and the backlash to Nina.

I agree 100% it’s time to disappear Peter, Nina, & give us our Sonny back. There’s absolutely no reason why Jason would ever see Carly in a romantic light. The best storylines were back in ‘06-‘08 & even then the audience was begging the writers to move the storyline faster! Sonny & Emily being romantic +Maxie’s BF (Jessie the cop) getting killed provided better drama than all of this… I’m sick of fake twins, crazy blondes (especially Carly), & no romance.

I am a dedicated daily GH viewer, I think the Mike/Nina storyline is one of the dumbest ever. I don’t know why the writers felt the need to drag that out! It is insanely boring and not to mention wrong!

I think another problem is the fact they broke up JASAM a fan favorite who have backstory of 17 years. A lot of people I know have stopped watching simply because of the way it was done and the fact both have acted in ways that we all know to be extremely out of character. The overall writing is bad and fans are simply turning their channels!

Nina and Sonny the worse story line ever. Turns my stomach. Never should have gone on this long. Even I find myself not looking forward to watching. Record it and I watch it whenever and fast forward what I don't want to watch. Sorry but hope Donny comes back soon and Nina goes awsy.

I believe that the Nina/Mike story line is causing a downturn in viewership. It is absurd that she could get away with something like this for so long or that someone like Mike would not leave and search for his true identity. Besides, don't they have newspapers, TV news, or social media in Nixon Falls?

Because Nina is doing what she accused Jax and Carly of doing, only this is much, much worse. She's keeping a man from his wife and family. She's known from day one who "Mike" was; Carly and Jax did not know the connection between Nelle and Nina at first. It's just wrong.

I agree. I think the situation is ludicrous ... A person with amnesia found with his watch and wedding rings and there's no news, no tv's, what's on these cell phones in Nixon Falls, no social media and then him ... Not a glimmer of a memory. And then Peter popping up ... Really. A married man having a relationship with Nina another really ...

Yes please this is such a stupid storyline and I am tired of seeing it , I haven’t watched as I normally do not caring to skip 1 or 2 episodes , it’s just not a good story

It’s stupid and boring I skip a lot of gh can’t stand to watch a lot of gh it stinks gh was always #1 but lately you’ve put characters that don’t go together they stink your killing gh completely can’t believe h ty ou are tanking gh that’s been on for decades sad sometimes just don’t watch because it’s so boring

I have been watching GH about 4 years and I use to like it better than my two soaps on CBS Sonny was taking Victor Newman place for me but now omg Im not feeling this story line at all.

I think when Sonny goes home its going to be crazy. They switching all the people with different partners. I think it maybe more of a problem. when they couldn't find Sonny they really took no time to even care enough to look for him. They bring back Donta get rid of Lulu that just plan wrong. Frank Valentini should be fired along with writers! Worst storyline ever, well, he has had some stupid ones. He also kills off characters only to bring SAME actor back in new role. Lets go of excellent characters, actors, He could never hold a candle to Gloria Monty!

The fact the show broke up some of the couple doesn't help either. Plus where's the romance and the storylines are dragging on. And the couples that were getting buzz were broken up. Like Jason and Britt and Anna and Valentine.

Real best friends don't sleep together, and Nina and Sonny make me sick, Nina knows who Sonny is but she tell him Oh Mike we can't go on unless you find out who you are,Are you Kidding me Nina you know who he is why haven't you told him? I thought Nina was better than that But the writers made her spikeful witch, Soony belong with Carly they make a great team. Jason should be with Britt she knows how to get to him,

I have been watching GH for 40 + years. I have loved Sonny always but don't like him as Mike and not with Nina. Sonny belongs with Carly always. Jason with Sam or Britt. Nina can go back to Jax since she did worse that Jax did by keeping Sonny from his kids and family.

I have watched GH for over 40years. There has never been a story line that I dislike as much as the Mike & Nina story. It doesn't make sense. I love Sonny & Carly together & really like Jason & Brit together too. I hate Mike & Nina together! It makes me very uncomfortable when they are together & I tune out until it swithces to anotherstory line & then I start paying attention again.

Mike and Nina is the most boring storyline ever. Jason and Carly should just stay friends. Willow and Michael are second most boring. I just skim through it these days because I get too bored watching. Put things right.

The Nina and Mike storyline is sick. I don't know who thought of it. I don't know why it's important for the writers to break up the right couple. So glad Michael's gotten back with Willow ... Love it. Leave a Reply. |
