Maurice is doing okay since his father's death by living in the moment
Maurice talks about his 3rd nervous breakdown this week on State of Mind with former writer and producer of General Hospital Wendy Riche.
Wendy Riche is a writer and producer, known for The Bay (2010), General Hospital (1963) and Port Charles (1997). She has been married to Alan Riche since December 4, 1966. They have two children. It seems like Maurice speaking in a low voice or whispers used to be a big issue. Maurice fought to be able to be him on General Hospital, speak the way he wanted to speak, which gave the viewers the Sonny they know and love or love to hate. He fought for his art and his way of doing it and he won. Nobody again asked him to 'SPEAK LOUDER." The fact that they used to negotiate movement on the set is interesting and intriguing. Maurice thought in his first few weeks of playing Sonny that he was doing THE GODFATHER mini series. They recall 28 years ago and Sonny's first few weeks on set. He experienced a nervous breakdown during that time. It is amazing that he got through that then and if he hadn't, we wouldn't have had the rich and totally lovable SONNY. An observation I made is the character Sonny is a flawed man. The character of SMIKE: SONNY + MIKE is a flawed man with a heart. I am not saying Sonny doesn't have a heart. He does but his heart is hardened by his life experiences. Mike was Sonny before all the pain with an open heart. You will hear Maurice talk about how Vanessa (Brenda) wasn't a great actress during her first couple months on GH. Sonny pitches his son to Wendy for THE BAY. Maurice talks about the death of his father who actually died from Alzheimer's Disease and how his father was diagnosis around the same time he was doing the Mike Alzheimer story line. The gift from this episode is that we all need to "LIVE IN THE PRESENT" View Maurice's Latest Episode Here!
