Keyboard player and vocalist for Little River Band is the man behind the Orchestra Lite shows.  Chris Marion has over a decade of classical training in piano and brass instruments.  He minored in arrangement, instrumentation and conducting at Carson Newman College.   He had never thought about doing a complete orchestral arrangement but took on the task nevertheless. His formal education in addition to his practical experience regarding arrangement and production in Nashville guided his way.
 
Over the past 6 years, LRB has done several pops orchestra shows with various sized orchestras with Chris conducting some and local conductors at others.  It’s great for the community because it gives a very local, personalized variation of the music the LRB fans love.  It’s the ultimate expansion because it takes the songs to a new level of experience.  Quite by accident, the band discovered they could pull off a downsized version of the orchestra show with one player from each of the primary brass and string sections - they call it orchestra lite.  They usually work with a local contractor to put the section together from their local and regional contacts.  The band has dubbed Chris “The Maestro.”  Follow LRB on Facebook.
