TIME TO GRIEVE

The news that Gary Rossington, one of the last original members of Lynyrd Skynyrd has earned his wings, the world is mourning his loss.  News of his death has spread worldwide while many in media scramble to try and get comments from band members.  It always amazes us how everyone runs around trying to get quotes from other music artists that might have shared a stage with the recently deceased.  For band mates and family it is "just too soon."

Truth is that everyone needs time to grieve. Gary had been sick a long time and continued to perform when he could. It was obvious he was frail. It was obvious that playing had become a struggle but he was such a warrior, he continued on. 

Even when we are aware that death is near, it is still hard to accept when it happens. What the band needs right now is a little time to digest and accept the loss of their dear friend and band mate. I would like to ask all media to leave them alone while they grieve. 

Gary's wife Dale and his children need love, comfort and support right now. It is at home where his loss will be felt the most. The next place is on the stage by his band mates.  Rickey's PR was asked for a comment from Rickey. Here is the response.
