Maurice initially captured our attention as well as our hearts on the 13th of August 1993 when he made his first appearance as Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital. Not only is Maurice Benard an exceptional two-time Emmy Award winning film and television actor but he’s also a loving and devoted husband and father. Maurice is a wonderful human being who is also a passionate advocate for mental health awareness. This man is like an onion, he has so many layers. You peel one back for it to just reveal another.

And while this is plain to see there was so much about Maurice that we didn’t know until we read his book Nothing General About It, How Love (and Lithium) Saved Me On and Off General Hospital. We’ve listened to the unabridged audiobook when it first came out which Maurice himself narrated.

The fact that Maurice narrated his book himself made it all the more meaningful and really drove home every last word.
