Stephanie Urbina Jones and the Honky Tonk Mariachi will make their fifth appearance on Oct. 15 at the Grand Ole Opry. Jones kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month when she appeared with her other group, The Texicana Mamas, in September. 

In 2018, Jones made her historic Grand Ole Opry debut to a standing ovation—the performance marked the first time in the Opry’s 93-year history that a woman performed on the iconic stage with mariachis.

Jones was one of 25 authors to contribute to the Amazon #1 best-selling book, Sacred Death: 25 Tools for Caregivers.  She was honored to share her story, “Midwifing Miracles and Messengers of Love,” a chapter detailing the life-changing experience of midwifing her abuelita (Mexican grandmother) between this world and the next. Jones shares in detail the inspiring  process of being present as her grandmother drew her last breath, and how the last conversation they had was her grandmother’s vision:  That Jones would be a mensajera (a messenger), sharing culture and  “country music with chili peppers” all over the world.

Twenty years and nine albums later, Jones has fulfilled her grandmother’s dream.  In all her songs, albums and shows, and now as a best-selling author,  Jones always shares her grandmother’s story, inspiring and reminding folks that the heart and love lives on.
“I am humbled and excited to be a part of this book," states Jones. "It is an honor to know it is helping so many people who have lost or will lose loved ones. It is our hope that we provide a conversation and tools to help with how to be present in this sacred process of death, the inevitability of  grief, and how we can honor our ancestors in memory, life, and song."
