Crossover country and southern pop recording artist Brei Carter is excited to release her new music video today (youtu.be/vEheHlkZfDU) for “Gave Him a Girl,” a song which she proudly embraces her southern country roots. The song was recently heralded by journalist and country music historian Robert K. Oermann as “cute and catchy” in his weekly single review column for Music Row Magazine. The video also follows suit and hints at scenes from Brei's upbringing as a little girl, her family's influence on her, and shows the very authentic and vivacious southern persona she is building a reputation for.

Stephanie Urbina Jones and the Honky Tonk Mariachi will make their fifth appearance on Oct. 15 at the Grand Ole Opry. Jones kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month when she appeared with her other group, The Texicana Mamas, in September. 

In 2018, Jones made her historic Grand Ole Opry debut to a standing ovation—the performance marked the first time in the Opry’s 93-year history that a woman performed on the iconic stage with mariachis.

Jones was one of 25 authors to contribute to the Amazon #1 best-selling book, Sacred Death: 25 Tools for Caregivers.  She was honored to share her story, “Midwifing Miracles and Messengers of Love,” a chapter detailing the life-changing experience of midwifing her abuelita (Mexican grandmother) between this world and the next. FREE WILL IN CHINA BLUE

​This came across my review desk and it made me curious. “Free Will in China Blue” by an entity named Sun King Rising.  I was not sure what to expect when putting this one on and sitting back, I prefer to preview this way because like it or not, preconceptions can ruin a song. I mean “Free Will in China Blue”? What could that even mean? Read on for more on “Free Will in China Blue” Single Review by Dashal Jennings.

My immediate thought upon starting was this was a nice highly produced southern rock tune. Not ala early Lynyrd Skynyrd or Blackfoot or even the Tucker Boys, but it is nicely southern rock–ish none the less. There are elements of a lot of well rounded rock style. I hear a little Joe Cocker in there and perhaps a little Leon Russell  

Sun King Rising
As I listened to the song and let it continue with my eyes closed I envision David Clayton Thomas and the band Blood, Sweat and Tears. I mean this song easily fits that style with horn sections, rocking guitar and soulful vocals. 

The second time through I listened to the words more than the music. There is more than enough going on here to blow your mind. Most of it may even be much deeper than you think. That is not a bad thing as it may take several plays through to reach a solid understanding.

If I have to categorize the feel I would say southern classic rock with a touch of Memphis soul seasoned to taste. Well recorded to a smooth consistency and a dash of Kentucky bourbon added for spite.
 
In Conclusion
Here’s a little teaser, the review copy contained the whole CD. I am now a fan.  Ya’ll need to get this when it’s released. I feel confident that you’ll love them all look for the release on the second of October. This music critic would give this single 5 Stars. ​CMT today announced country music legend Randy Travis will be honored with the “Artist of a Lifetime” award presented by The Ram Truck Brand at this year’s “CMT Artists of the Year” event. Travis will join the illustrious ranks alongside previous “Lifetime” honorees including Reba McEntire (2019), Loretta Lynn (2018), Shania Twain (2016), Kenny Rogers (2015) and Merle Haggard (2014). The 2021 “CMT Artists of the Year” celebration will air LIVE from Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Wednesday, October 13 at 9p/8c on CMT. The award comes as Travis celebrates 35 years of his debut album, Storms of Life, with Friday's release of a deluxe edition offering three never-before-heard songs and remastered versions of the ten iconic original tracks.

Zac Brown has Covid-19 and must suspend tour.  Zac himself posted the sad news on the bands Facebook page today and this is what he had to say:
To all our fans,
I have made the very difficult decision to pause Zac Brown Band’s “The Comeback Tour.” Despite taking precautions, I’ve tested positive for COVID-19. I am deeply disappointed this has happened, as touring is our life and performing live for our fans is the best part of our job. The bottom line is that I want to take every precaution to put the health and safety of our fans and crew first. We will resume the tour as soon as I have finished the CDC-mandated quarantine and it is safe for our band members and crew to do so.
I am grateful to our fans for understanding this decision, as well as everyone on the front lines who can’t stay at home because their work is essential. I believe we can all overcome this together. As soon as we can, we’ll see you back out on the road again. Nothing’s better than the comeback.

When I first put this on to start the review I was reading the liner notes and thought to myself that it is just another jazz album. But as I listen to Pablo Embon’s CD Sunrises Every Night, I found that it is everything but that, at least in the traditional sense.
 
“Get it Together”
The CD starts out with a rather jumping little tune. Yes “Get It Together” a little jazzy but it's one of those near perfect pop sounds that would fit nicely on a sound track. I like the way it starts the CD with a nice up-tempo sound.
 
“The Meaning of You”
This song “The Meaning of You” brings in a heavier jazz sound. Being from the Chicago area years ago, I can imagine being in a nice club with a Chiquita on my arm and a smoky haze in the night air as we gaze into one another’s eyes. Damn, this is good stuff here.
 
“Secret Voices”
I have to say that as I listen to this CD I find that I like each one better than the previous one. “Secret Voices” has a combo feel like Carlos Santana was bitten by the jazz bug while on tour in South America. You’ll get it when you listen.
 
“A Better Day”
If there is such a thing as oriental fusion jazz this would be it. “It’s A Better Day” certainly makes you look forward to what’s going to happen. The song while up-tempo is also lilting and laid back. This is a very well crafted tune.
 
“Jacaranda”
As I listened to the song “Jacaranda”, I felt like I was being pulled into it. It stands well alone but feels like it would be great in a suspense movie. There is some simply fantastic guitar picking on here. The suspense is oozing from this one.
 
“Sueños”
This is one of the songs with lyric vocals on it. It has a longing sense to it. I can’t understand what he is singing, but that doesn’t stop me from feeling it. “Sueños” by the way translates into the word Dreams.
 
 “Endless Journey”
“Endless Journey” starts as a slow yet moving song and then builds into something that is a nicely complex music scope of sounds that toy with your aural senses causing you to fade in and out of what is going on. Sort of like the journey of life.
 
“Reborn”
The song “Reborn” kind of make you feel that no matter what,  things start over. You hear and feel the ups and downs as the song progresses along.
 
“Are You Ready?”
To me, “Are You Ready” is the most fusion jazzy song on the CD. It has some great work on all the instruments and they must seem to melt together as it moves and grooves onward.
 
“Change”
Here is one song that is definite jazz. Not just jazz, but close to real jazz with a little scit-scat added for good measure. This is another one that would fit in a smoky jazz club in Chi Town. “Change” can be a good thing.
 
“Us”
This piece called simply “Us” would make a great soundtrack song. It builds you up after starting you with a tenseness that only music or real life pain can invoke.
 
“It’s All We Know”
Break out the Cerveza and Tequila guys and gals, and be ready to have a nice Spanish siesta after watching the flamingo dancer. This oddly enough is one of my favorites on the album. “It’s All We Know” is definitely a stand out song.
 
Do yourself a favor, when this is released in December add it to your playlist and collection. I think that a great treasure has been discovered in Israel and it is named Pablo Embon. There is not a bad song or filler tune on the album Sunrises Every  Night, so get ahead of the curve and buy it.
