About "All Those Lies,"

PictureSong Artwork
Lots of songs drop on our desks to review and some touch us and some don't. All those Lies is absolutely a song that touched us. In fact, it touched this song reviewer so much, I made sure a few other people in the office heard the song. Let's start with the beautiful way the song begins. The acoustic guitar is played in such a way that makes it feel like the intro is lathered with a classic hispanic feel right out of the box. You just know something beautiful and profound is coming. Both Spencer and Allen's voices compliment each other perfectly. In addition, the lyrics reach out and grab you immediately. You want to know where this song is going. There are so many possibilities about who is being sung about that a wide variety of people can find themselves thinking about someone they know when they hear this song. All Those Lies has all the makings of a song that will be remembered long after its release date. In other words, the song has staying power.

The Oldest becomes the last

About BTO

Picture(L–R: Fred Turner, Robbie Bachman, Randy Bachman, Blair Thornton)

Bachman–Turner Overdrive
, often abbreviated BTO, were a Canadian rock band from WinnipegManitoba, founded by brothers Randy BachmanRobbie BachmanTim Bachman, and Fred Turner in 1973. Their 1970s catalogue included five top-40 albums and six US top-40 singles (11 in Canada).

BTO has five certified gold albums and one certified platinum album in the US; in Canada, they have six certified platinum albums and one certified gold album. The band has sold nearly 30 million albums worldwide, and has fans affectionately known as "gearheads" (derived from the band's gear-shaped logo). Many of their songs, including "Let It Ride", "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet", "Takin' Care of Business", "Hey You", and "Roll on Down the Highway", still receive regular play on classic-rock stations.

The original lineup consisted of Randy Bachman (lead guitar, lead vocals), Fred Turner (bass guitar, lead vocals), Tim Bachman (guitar, vocals) and Robbie Bachman (drums). This lineup released two albums in 1973. The second and most commercially successful lineup featured Blair Thornton (lead guitar), in place of Tim Bachman. This lineup released four albums between 1974 and 1977, including two that reached the top 5 in the U.S. pop charts, as well as the band's only U.S. No. 1 single ("You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet").

Subsequent lineups enjoyed only moderate success.

After the band went into a hiatus in 2005, Randy Bachman and Fred Turner reunited in 2009 to tour and collaborate on a new album. In 2010, they played the halftime show at the Grey Cup in Edmonton. The two stopped touring following Turner's amicable retirement in March 2018.

"During the making of Fred’s album I had the opportunity to speak with people from all walks of life,” Scott said. “Everyone agrees that we need Mister Rogers now more than ever. They miss him as well as his music.”

By way of a Change.org petition, Scott has amassed more than 2,300 signatures, and is again calling on the public and music community for more support.

Along with country singer-songwriter Teea Goans, Scott will appear on WSMV-TV’s “Today In Nashville” on March 20 at 2pm CT to celebrate Fred’s 95th birthday and release of the new deluxe album. Scott has also been profiled for his efforts by News Channel 5 in NashvilleNews Channel 3 in Memphis, and along with Actor David Newell (aka Mister McFeely from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood) on the nationally syndicated TV show, Nashville Insider.

“Fred Rogers composed over 200 songs, not only for his television program but also for CD’s, record albums, and video - songs that are part of the soundtrack of our lives,” said David Newell. “That’s why so many people believe that Mister Rogers belongs in The Songwriters Hall of Fame. If I know Fred Rogers, this honor would mean the world to him because it’s a recognition of his music.”

“After producing two albums featuring Fred Rogers’ music I have developed a deep appreciation for his songwriting skills,” said Scott. “If you look closely at his tunes you can see what a lyrical craftsman he was. And his choice of chords are more complex than one might expect to hear in any “children’s” song. That’s the magic of Mister Rogers. He never talked down to kids - musically or otherwise. His songs have messages for all ages and his composing is as sophisticated as many of our great American writers. There’s no doubt in my mind that he belongs in The Songwriters Hall of Fame.”

About Producer Dennis Scott:

Two-time GRAMMY® Award winning songwriter, music producer, and writer Dennis Scott has left no corner of the children's music industry unexplored. His songs have been performed by such diverse artists as Faith Hill, Ray Charles, Sugarland, Alison Krauss, The Muppets, Amy Grant, CeCe Winans, Trisha Yearwood, Elmo, Charlie Daniels Band, Shari Lewis, Crystal Gayle, Roberta Flack, Ricky Skaggs, and many others. Dennis is also the recipient of two Emmys, a Parent's Choice Award, and a Telly. You can hear his work on television, radio, audio books, home videos, and stage productions such as "Clifford the Big Red Dog," "Sesame Street Live" and "The Magic School Bus." Dennis began his entertainment career at the age of 7 as an actor on Broadway. As an adult, he toured with the New Christy Minstrels (playing upright bass and singing). His novelty tune "Captain Kirk's Disco Trek" led to his first serious foray into children's music and a Grammy for "Sesame Country." He has had nonstop assignments since then. Dennis has served as Music Director for several children's TV shows including the PBS series "Noddy" and, most recently, "BJ's Teddy Bear Club" which airs on TBN and just earned him his second Emmy award. His album, Songs From The Neighborhood - The Music of Mister Rogers won a GRAMMY® Award for Best Musical Recording for Children in 2005. His latest produced album, Thank You, Mister Rogers – Music & Memories is available on CD, and wherever digital music is sold and streamed at orcd.co/ThankYouMisterRogersDeluxe.

RIP Robbie Bachman

Robbie Bachman, co-founding member and drummer of Bachman-Turner Overdrive, has died at the age of 69.
Randy Bachman announced the death of his brother and bandmate in a social media post: “Another sad departure. The pounding beat behind BTO, my little brother Robbie has joined Mum, Dad & brother Gary on the other side. Maybe Jeff Beck needs a drummer! He was an integral cog in our rock ‘n’ roll machine and we rocked the world together.”
Bachman-Turner Overdrive’s core lineup consisted of Randy and Robbie Bachman and Fred Turner, following a previous run under the band name Brave Belt (which Randy formed after he quit The Guess Who). Another Bachman brother, Tim, was also a founding member of BTO, but was replaced after a couple of years by Blair Thornton.
During their heyday in the 1970s, BTO released several hit albums, including 1974’s chart-topping Not Fragile. Among the Canadian band’s most popular hits are the ubiquitous “Takin’ Care of Business,” the No. 1 single “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” and their breakthrough single “Let It Ride.” Another one of their memorable tunes, “Roll On Down the Highway,” which Robbie co-wrote, peaked at No. 14 in the US.
After BTO disbanded in early 1980, Robbie didn’t return to the band when they reunited in 1983 due to business conflicts with Randy and the other members. However, he did come back in 1988 and remained with the band until 2005.
Our condolences go out to Robbie Bachman’s family, friends, and bandmates during this difficult time. See the drummer and the rest of Bachman-Turner Overdrive performing their biggest hits in the clips below.

<![CDATA[Son of a Sinner is a NUMBER 1 HIT FOR JELLY ROLL]]>Mon, 09 Jan 2023 23:00:07 GMThttp://backstagepassnews.com/breaking-news/son-of-a-sinner-is-a-number-1-hit-for-jelly-roll

Son of a Sinner is # 1

No. 1 hitmaker and multi-genre phenomenon Jelly Roll scores his first No. 1 on Country radio, as his debut Country single “Son Of A Sinner” sits at the top of the Billboard and Country Aircheck/MediaBase charts. Following a massive, history-making year that included selling out Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, making his Grand Ole Opry debut, scoring his first Country radio No. 1 and two-week Rock No. 1, and releasing his label-debut album Ballads Of The Broken on BMG/Stoney Creek Records, the Antioch native has more than “cemented his rising mainstream stardom” (Tennessean). Amassing more than 4 Billion career streams, Jelly Roll’s “Son Of A Sinner” continues to dominate Billboards Emerging Artist chart for an astounding 20 straight weeks – marking the second-longest reign ever on the chart.

Written by Jelly Roll with fellow Nashville native ERNEST and David Ray Stevens, the Jelly shared with Billboard his appreciation for his first #1 single at Country radio, noting “There is no greater reward for a singer and songwriter in Nashville, Tennessee than to have the #1 song on Country radio. Now, imagine that happening to a guy that grew up in this town…a guy that, at every turn the first 25 years of his life, made the wrong decision. Imagine everyone telling that guy he had no chance at Country radio. ‘You’re too overweight, you have too many tattoos, they will never let another convicted criminal on Country radio’ - now imagine Country radio proving everyone wrong and taking the chance on the song, the message and the man. If you can imagine that, then you can understand why I’m so filled with gratitude as tears stream down my face while I type this: I currently have the number 1 song on Country radio. Thank you, Country Radio and all the Streaming Partners, for making ‘Son of a Sinner’ my first #1 at Country radio. I vow to never let you down or forget the chance you gave me when everyone told you not to! I want to take a second to thank my label STONEY CREEK AND BMG — Loba and his misfits — y’all took the biggest chance. Every label in town told me I had a better chance signing with a label in LA than to ever have a chance in this town with my history — not only did that not scare BMG, it made them want to double down and go all in!”

Last year ahead of his sold-out headlining date at his hometown venue, Bridgestone Arena, Jelly also shared with Billboard“I want to keep making music that helps people,” and detailed the behind-the-scenes process of his song, “she” the soul-stirring ballad that brings the hidden perils of addiction into the light. Quickly resonating with fans, “she” encouraged people through the music video and Jelly’s partnership with Shatterproof to seek help with addiction and mental health. Watch the powerful video for “she” HERE.

Jelly’s next release from his highly anticipated forthcoming album will be “NEED A FAVOR,” which dictates “the internal fight between faith and vices” (American Songwriter), impacting radio February 13th. Ahead of its official radio release, the video for “NEED A FAVOR” will premiere this Friday, January 13, on YouTube, along with a live stream after party for fans HERE.

After independently building his own fanbase, the past year has marked Jelly Roll’s biggest to date. With his two-week rock No. 1 “Dead Man Walking” – his first No. 1 ever as an artist or songwriter – Jelly became the first act this decade to top the Rock charts while simultaneously having a Top 30 song on Country radio (“Son Of A Sinner”), and he is the first artist in Billboard history to do so with debut singles. It was also just over a year ago that Jelly Roll signed with BMG and sold-out the Ryman Auditorium in under an hour, prompting an immediate invitation to the historic Opry to make his debut.

ABOUT JELLY ROLL:
Outright genre-bending singer/songwriter/rapper Jelly Roll has quietly been building a remarkable career, under the radar and on his own terms. Since his days selling his mix tapes out of his car, he has constantly been releasing new music (more than 24 albums), touring relentlessly, consistently topping various iTunes charts, engaging a rabid fanbase and creating videos that have amassed nearly 2 billion views on YouTube. He pairs deeply personal lyrics with music that blends Old-school Rap, Classic Rock, Country and Soul to create music that is therapeutic, raw and tackles the heaviness in life.

His 2020 single “Save Me” — a confessional, vulnerable expression of self-doubt set the stage for his new season of life and took him to new heights, with more than 141 million views on YouTube and Platinum certification from the RIAA. Born and raised in Nashville’s Antioch neighborhood, the former addict and drug dealer released his album
Ballads of the Broken in 2021, ahead of his sold-out hometown show at the famous Ryman Auditorium, which sold out in under an hour. The introspective 10-track album shows Jelly Roll’s growth as an artist and man, drawing from his personal experiences to tell the story of a man who has been through the ringer and isn’t afraid to share his raw truth, featuring his multi-week No. 1 Rock hit “Dead Man Walking” and his No. 1 Country debut single “Son of a Sinner.” Now after a history-making “breakthrough year” (American Songwriter), having just sold-out Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and released the riveting anthem “NEED A FAVOR” along with the soul-stirring ballad “she” from his highly anticipated forthcoming album, the reigning No. 1 of Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart for 20 weeks is well on his way to mainstream, multi-genre stardom.

Worldwide album, CD sales and digital downloads now top 35 million and LRB has set a record for having had Top 10 hits for 6 consecutive years - In fact, they were the very first band to achieve that remarkable status! According to BMI, “Reminiscing” has garnered rare status with over 5 million airplays on American radio, and “Lady” is close behind with over 4 million airplays.

Bassist/vocalist Wayne Nelson joined the band in 1980, and worked alongside founding members with some of the most distinctive harmonies and vocal abilities, creating the unique LRB sound. In 1981, Nelson was recognized by world renowned Beatles producer Sir George Martin whom, while producing ‘Time Exposure’, chose Nelson to record lead vocals on two of the band’s biggest hits, “The Night Owls” and “Take It Easy On Me.” Later that same year guitarist extraordinaire Stephen Housden joined LRB bringing a rock element into the band’s sound and helped contribute to their string of Top 10 hits. As band members departed, both Housden and Nelson worked together to bring LRB into the new millennium.

To date, lead singer/bassist Wayne Nelson has contributed his vocal and bass guitar talents on 22 Little River Band Albums/CD’s. LRB continues to perform to sold out audiences, and Stephen Housden continues to write and participate in all things Little River Band.

In 2004 LRB was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame at the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards and in September 2015 the band was awarded Casino Entertainer of the Year at the G2E Gaming Expo in Las Vegas Nevada.
Turning the page brings us to the current lineup of Little River Band…

Keyboardist Chris Marion is a Dove Award winning producer. Chris is the creator of all the orchestral arrangements and charts on The Big Box. It is amazing to watch him play, sing, and conduct from his riser!

Drummer Ryan Ricks has locked down the rhythm section, and rounds out the vocals with his incredible range. Great singing drummers are rare…and LRB is lucky to have Ryan as part of that all-important vocal blend.

Nashville Guitarist Colin Whinnery plays lead guitar, and shares lead vocal duties with Wayne. He continues to deliver a unique voice and a fresh outlook to the lead section.

Nashville Singer-Songwriter and Guitarist Bruce Wallace plays rhythm guitar and adds a new layer to the vocal harmonies. The addition of Bruce to the line-up has added to the energy of the already highly energized LRB.
